What is going on?

When did our country go from being a free, "one for all and all for one" to "Screw you, I don't like you and don't want to talk to you and could care less about what your needs are?" When did we become a "it's all about me and to hell with you"

For a society to prosper there needs to be give and take. Right now we are at a stand still no one wants to budge. I am willing to budge. But it feels like my counterparts on the other side of the aisle (republicans) have their backs to me and giving me the middle finger. I know that it happens on both sides but it sure as hell feels like it is one sided and it is on the right side, oh and just because you are labeled as the "right" does not make it so!!

I think we can all agree on the following:

1) We all have a voice
2) We all want to succeed
3) We do not want to see anybody suffer
4) We want to help others because at the end of the day it will help all of us
5) We want our children to be educated, healthy and proud

I am sure there are more, but that give you an idea. However with everything I have read in the past week, I am not sure:

1) South Dakota trying to pass a bill to make it "legal" to murder somebody that is helping a women in getting an abortion, that means it is okay to kill a doctor, a nurse, a brother, father, mother, sister friend. Really we are okay with this? That should be called "Justifiable Homicide", what the hell. Do they not get they are hypocrites.

2) Our congress is trying to stop funding to planned parenthood, which helps families with low income or are afraid to go to anyone else for fear of retribution.that need test. From HIV tests, cancer screenings, birth control, etc. Really, I feel lucky enough to be able to see a doctor, who did find a lump, and said I should get it checked out, which then had to be biopsied. I did not think twice about the cost. However receiving the bill I can tell you that I can see why most women do not go and get mammograms and biopsies, it is expensive, and even with insurance it will cost me close to $1,000. So for those who agree with this bill, how is that women or man, who make minimum wage supposed to pay for that exam. Because it will not be $1,000 it will be more like $5,000. Tell me how?

3) Media pundits think it is their way or the highway, Limbaugh wants to make the word "liberal" a dirty word a word that if you use it to describe yourself you can be maligned, if you hear it about a candidate it is a death sentence.

4) The new Republican majority, lead by Boehner, wants to re-define RAPE. If it is incest or a women is given a drug, that should not be considered a violent rape, because you did not fight back.

5) Somehow we are not allowed to tax the rich their fair share. Actually we have to give them a break, because they put money back in the economy. Really? Where is it? For all those people who have lost their jobs, both blue and white collars, should they be getting a call soon from that rich person with a new job? Hmmmm somehow I think not!

6) In Wisconsin, the new Governor wants to cut already low wages for our teachers, firefighters, police and kill their bargaining power. He wants to destroy their unions. The FOX news is saying that it a riot, and they are thugs. Really FOX, you know we have eyes and ears and can see that they are not thugs, and that they are peaceful and you know what they are standing up for themselves, isn't that what we are supposed to do?

I think some of the blame of why we are where we are is because we allowed religion to participate in our government and all of the sudden the Christian rules have and are becoming our governing rules. I did not sign up for that. I really do not want my Christian rules forming any government laws. You know why? Because not everyone believes in the same religion, because some of the rules of Christianity, should not tell us how to govern. Because it is faith based. And government is not faith based.
